When did you realize that you were a fanatic about hunting?

i suppose for me, i realized i was fanatic, was a day after hunting in the freezing rain, i got home and was in my garage, dripping wet and cold as hell, cleaning my gun...my guns welfare came before my own...thats when i realized i was one of the elite hunting fanatics..When did you realize that you were a fanatic about hunting?
I had gone deer hunting with my father, along with upland game, but when I realized I was hooked was the first time I went waterfowl hunting. My father, uncle and I, went out into a snow storm, visibility was very poor, and I was freezing cold. Sitting in a blind I was very dubious about what we where there for, I had drawn out on a tundra swan tag, and that was mainly what we were after. Sitting there not being able to see very far when I heard the wings of a flock of Spoonbills come into view. I took too that was a rush. After 1/2 hour a swan came into view and I took it. 10 GA single shot WOW that was a rush. I have been hooked ever since and continue to hunt more different animals and become obsessed with everything I try now LOLWhen did you realize that you were a fanatic about hunting?
When I started serious dating, and I told every girl ';If you don't like the fact that I hunt you should leave now because I won't give it up for anyone or anything';
I HAVE TO QUALIFY WHAT I FEEL IS HUNTING

SITTING IN A STAND WAITING FOR A DEER IS NOT HUNTING

HUNTING IS THE ABILITY TO SCAN AN AREA

AND FIGURE OUT WHERE THE ANIMAL MIGHT BE

WATCHING THE WIND AND STAYING IN THE TREE LINES OUT OF SIGHT

TRACKING AND STALKING, FIGURING OUT WHERE THE ANIMAL WILL BE NEXT

I SHOT AN ELK IN NEW MEXICO SATURDAY MORNING

I KNEW THEY WERE IN AN AREA BETWEEN TWO CANYONS

THEY RAN DOWNHILL 350 YARDS AWAY FROM ME AND CROSSED A MEADOW TO THE LEFT

I HEADED BACK UP THE HILL BEHIND ME AND CIRCLED UP OVER A RIDGE JUST AS THEY BROKE OPEN AGAIN

I TOOK THE BULL DOWN RUNNING AT 150 YARDS

THE BEAUTY OF THE HUNT.... WELL THAT WAS IT

BEING ABLE TO OUTSMART A SMART AND WARY ANIMAL IN ITS OWN ENVIRONMENT

THAT IS BORN INTO YOU

AND IF IT IS BORN INTO YOU IT WAS ALWAYS THERE AND ALWAYS WILL BE

MY GUN GOT CLEANED THE NEXT DAY WHEN I GOT HOME

TAKING CARE OF GEAR IS ONE THING

TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS IS ANOTHER

WE ALL AS HUNTERS ENDURE ALOT OF HARDSHIPS TO ENJOY OUR PASTIME

IS IT THE SHOOTING, THE GEAR OR THE ACTUAL HUNT THAT MAKES US THE WAY WE ARE ?

TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, I REALIZED I WAS A HUNTER LONG BEFORE I WAS ALLOWED TO DO IT

MAYBE YOUR OWN ANSWER WILL CHANGE NOW
Bird hunting and watching the dogs work what a treat.
I never thought of it until now. Too many years of walking miles and miles of fence rows, tree lines, plowed fields, and creeks in the sub zero wind chill winters of Illinois. Ice forming in your facial hair, then cracking off - both hair and ice. Having to cut the laces from you boots due to ice too thick to break up and untie, 'cuz you need to removed your feet asap to see if medical attention is required (ya sure). Wind so strong eyes are constantly tearing. Damn! now y'all got me all excited. Can't wait until 11/4, opening day for upland game in Illinois. Making the 11 hour drive back for pheasant/rabbit and worth every minute!! Let's hope it's not like last year - 70 degrees maybe even warmer. What a brutal weekend, took a week to get fluids back in me (other than medicinal alcohol)

Thanks for the question
1 year ago when i started hunting, inmidiately i was a fanatic, and like you weapons come first
lets see... i was around thirteen hunting ducks... it was freezing and sleeting.. i couldnt feel my hands.. and couldnt undo the zipper to take a leak haha.. that was the day i fell in love with hunting
i think i was about 15 and my neighbors dad was taking him hunting.well they invited me to go with them.i did nit even have a rifle to hunt with,so his dad let me borrow a winchester 94 30-30.well we got to the hunting plot and i set up on a creek bank.sat there freezing to death for i dont know how long.all of the sudden a doe and a yearling came into sight.well i got excited and aimed then squeezed a round off at the doe.got her in the neck.my first hunting trip i shot a doe.man i was proud of myself.every since then i had the fever and the passion.
i realize i was a fanatic the day i got my first girl
when my father took me hunting with him when i was 10 years old... my father is not with me anymore only the things he taught me are with me yet and always will be... i enjoyed being out there with my father and couldn't wait to go again... then it came time to teach my son and daughter i enjoyed that as well... make a child feel important because they are... take them and teach them they will thank you in the end...be a roll model...
About 2 months ago when I went on my first hunt I was hooked. Now I want to go all the time!
when i was duck hunting in below 0, freezing rain and ragging my duck hunting buddies, calling them big puss's, and loving every minute of it.
a fanatic at age 6 when i went with my dad been hunting every season since im 46 now. My sont started when he was 5 and hes been a fanatic since
I realized this when I went out hunting for the very first time and I had my make-up, perfume, hair spray on and I was 7 months pregnant. The guys thought I was crazy so they put me in a stand where they thought I wouldn't get nothing out of. I was out there less than an hour when I shot a 8 point buck. I've been hunting ever since. My biggest is a 13.
when i was about 15 years rabbit hunting with my uncle there's nothing like getting my limit and my uncle getting skunked or the first deer with my bow the Adrenalin that was pumping thru me in those first few seconds of seeing that that doe.It still happens today and I'll never stop hunting for as long as I'm able
when i first saw and went with my dad
I realized this at an early age, 8 years, when I got a .22 single shot rifle (Ithaca Mod. 49) for my birthday and used my Dad's shotgun to shoot a rooster pheasant. Been hooked ever since.
when i realized the guy i liked enjoyed hunting (but i already liked hunting long before that, i just didn't like it as much)
When I was 12 years old. My first time deer hunt. My dad took me and I thought I was going to freeze to death. Never the less, I have stuck with it to date, I'm now 54. I bow hunt and hunt with rifle. Give me a nice cold wet day in the woods any day over all else.
Same here, The first things I do when I get home from a hunting trip is make sure my dogs are dry, clean and fed first, they only get a little before leaving in the morning, and then I make sure my gun is clean and dry, then I worry about myself.

The second thing is I realized I had a blast wether I came home with my limit or with nothing. The experiance is what makes it fun, not the kill.
lol...sounds like you where hooked alright. I was born in Australia..have hunted all my life...was raised around hunting./guns now live in the states. we have cattle so coyotes are a problem...have raised my daughters to know /respect guns \ about hunting. And all loved to hunt. And was my surprised..when one of my son-in-laws was a non-hunter. Grand sons get 22's..then 410's/28 gauges.....then move on to rifles. I have a 12 yr old(nephew) that is one of the best natural trackers.i've ever seen. Sorry got the writing..got a little long on the wind....lol
when i was 3 my dad took me to my unckles farm and with his holding the gun and my finger on the trigger i shot my frist woodchuck been hunting with my dad and grandpa ever sence if i could not carry a gun till i was 12
