Good hunting weapons for to hunt beavers?

I need to hunt this beaver down in my villageGood hunting weapons for to hunt beavers?
From reading your other questions it seems that beavers are killing your trees. Well there are ways to protect your trees with out killing the beaver. Trees can be wrapped with a guard made from metal roofing, hardware mesh fencing, or you can install an electric fence.

Another way is to make the tree taste bad; make a mixture of vegetable oil, ground hot peppers, with blood meal and paint the tree trunk from ground level up 4 feet. Or you can buy coyote urine and spray the tree trunk.

Here is a commercial repellant to keep them away (I can not say it works though);

One my grandfather used with success was latex paint with coarse sand mixed in; they don鈥檛 like sand in their mouth. Here is a link about that;

Trapping them with body grip type traps kills them fast BUT can also kill non target animals like a dog. Leg hold traps can be set to drown the beaver.

I am a trapper but advise NOT to use traps in populated areas in fact its illegal in many places.

As far as a gun goes you need to contact your local fish and game or dept of natural resources as to the laws in your area. Beaver are not hard to kill with a gun, even a head shot with a .22lr will kill them or a shotgun with #2 shot will do it.

I still recommend non-lethal means to protect your trees and property if you are in a town or populated area. Come fall buy a trapping license and set traps in the water to catch them and make a few bucks.

In my state the beaver pelt is worthless because they do not put on their heavy winter coats in the deep south- the beavers cause so much damage to our timber by building dams that flood the lowlands that we live in ( Louisiana ) and killing thousands of acres of hardwood timber, that at one time they put a $5 bounty on the tail of a beaver if you brought in to the wildlife office- A 22 will kill them, a Shotgun will kill them, a .17 will kill them , a deer rifle will kill them, almost any gun can be used if bullet placement is dead on.
Most state and federal law classify beavers as 'fur bearers' and as such they can only be taken by traps. Although trappers are also allowed to shoot an animal - you will always find a special note stating that 'beavers may not be taken with a rifle or pistol'. That's because they sink.

Just visit or call your local dept of fish and game. They will either loan you a trap and teach you how to use it, or they will set it for you, - might even send an experienced trapper over to take care of it. However, if you don't have a trapping license or the seaon is closed - don't expect to be able to keep the fur.
Just about anything will kill them. A good .22 is supposed to work fine. I heard from a friend of mine that last year the pelts were going for 70$ apiece. I don't trap or hunt them personally but have friends who have. They are supposed to have a lot of vitality so good shot placement is essential. Check your states laws though because in some states only landowners can hunt them if they are causing damage.
As far as I know, at least in my State you cannot Hunt Beaver, you can only trap them.* Its illegal and unethical to hunt beaver.*
DO NOT USE TEQUILA WHEN HUNTING BEAVER!

Apparently Molson works better
if you want to be quiet with it, use a high power air rifle. 1000 fps or more if a .177cal, 600fps or more with a .22cal. tag it right behind the eye or in the ear hole.
if the beaver is over 18 years of age, I'd like to join you on that hunt.

a good ';weapon'; is the gun slung in the low holster
Hmmmm....Hunting beavers. Go get yourself a .17 savage hmr get a nice scope on there and blow thier brains out.
$100.00 bills. But really...most states allow only trapping of Beaver.
A bottle of tequila, salt and a lime.

A snazzy sports car helps, too.
As mnay guns as you can carry.

Give them some wood to si-track them and then SHOOT!!!!!!
