How did the palace of versailles 'envelope' the original hunting lodge? ?

as it looks today, what part is the hunting lodge and which parts are the additions??How did the palace of versailles 'envelope' the original hunting lodge? ?
Because there have been so many different parts added on over the centuries you can no longer tell what is original. How did the palace of versailles 'envelope' the original hunting lodge? ?
There's nothing left of the very first hunting lodge. Its replacement is still there, at the very centre of the composition. If you're looking at the palace from the front, the oldest part is the smaller part directly in front. The newer the addition, in general, the farther from the centre (this is a generalisation, but essentially true). Wings and chapels and so on were added to each side as the palace grew.

The area outside the old core of the building is called, I believe the Marble Court.
